Newbies really bother some people. But I'm curious: Why do such newbie haters so often frequent support forums? Did they enjoy pulling the wings off flies when they were kids?
I just think that the Newbie haters are a bunch of kids who do have a lot of free time in their hands, and they just like to piss off people who are looking for help or learn how to use new technologies.
No one knows it all and the Internet is the best source to share knowledge/solutions/ideas.

As a regular on Novell's support (non-chat) forums, I rarely see this type of behavior against a newbie. More likely but still uncommon is the newbie that is really confused, frustrated, etc. and starts flaming.

Many of these types are the "geeks" and "nerds" who were picked on and/or bullied in school, and see this as an anonymous means of "flexing their muscles" to make themselves feel good. They are demeaning the "newbies" for being unknowledgable in the same manner as they were taunted for not being part of the "in" crowd.
