Scott Mace installed his first Firefox browser patch:

"I missed Windows Update! The Mozilla/Firefox patch mechanism essentially requires users to inspect Firefox afterward to confirm that the patch 'took.' I'd rather have the Windows Update-style confirmation process."

However, he ponders the fact that Windows Update is itself a potential security hole. And in this post, he discusses what happens when he runs a "tightened-down" version of IE.
