Network World Fusion 08/30/04

Bryce Yehl makes a trip over to OfficeMax to pick up some cheap shelving for the *five* more used servers he's bringing home (he bought 'em cheap from work). But now he needs some GigE cards with 802.1Q support for a network segmentation project:

... the goal being to split things up so that the ~17 networked devices in the house have limited exposure to each other, hopefully stopping worms and malware from spreading. Newegg has the TRENDnet TEG-PCITXR for $12.99, which sounds like a winner.

What, it's not normal to bring home stacks of retired servers? :-)

My GigE cards arrived today. Should be a lot of fun creating what will probably be the most convoluted home network in history, but don't think I'll get started until next week...
