Netcraft reports on a controversy surrounding a company called Sipence that attempted to register some 950,000 .info domain names all at once. The company shares a postal address with domain registrar eNom, which says it wanted to register the names for its customers - even if they hadn't asked for .info addresses. So many simultaneous registration requests meant a 1,000-fold increase in the load on servers at Afilias, which manages the .info TLD, Netcraft says.
