With the increasing deployment of 802.11 (Wi-Fi) wireless networks in business environments comes an increased focus on security. This paper begins with a discussion of the security control methods that form the basis of the original 802.11 architecture and explores several options, including the more robust virtual private network (VPN) alternative and the forthcoming 802.11i standard.
