gTLD (generic Top Level Domain)
In November, 2000, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), approved the creation of seven new broad domain names, or gTLDs, to augment existing top-level domains such as .com and .net: .aero, .biz, .coop, .info, .museum, .name and .pro.
In early 2005, ICANN approved the .jobs and .travel gTLDs.
