SALT (Speech Application Language Tags)
An extension to existing Web programming models and markup languages such as HTML, XHTML and XML, SALT helps create speech interfaces that will reside alongside traditional input/output modes such as text, audio, video and graphics.
It is intended to support speech access to Web content through a variety of devices, including telephones, desktop and tablet PCs, and PDAs.
It was created by the SALT Forum, but submitted to the World Wide Web Consortium for consideration as a proposed standard.
