Juniper last week said its E-series broadband edge routers and SDX-300 Service Deployment System software could be used to provision and build on public wireless LAN networks.Juniper
proposes that PWLAN service providers consolidate user authentication and service creation functions for many 802.11b Wi-Fi hot spots onto one E-series router. Some new services that can be added to PWLAN networks through the E-series routers
are guaranteed bandwidth, VPNs, quality of service, and added security, Juniper says. The SDX-300 provides Web-based log on
via service portals customized for users and locations, and selection of more PWLAN services through personalized Web portals,
Juniper says. The E-series and SDX-300 currently are deployed for this PWLAN application at several service providers.
