Laurel does 10G

Edge router maker Laurel Networks this week unveiled 10G bit/sec SONET/SDH and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces for its ST200 Service Edge Router.

The company rolled out a single-port OC-192c/STM-64 SONET/SDH card that scales to eight ports per ST200, or 16 per rack. It supports packet over SONET (POS), Point-to-Point Protocol, high-level data link control and frame relay encapsulations.

Laurel also introduced a single-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet card that supports Ethernet over MPLS, IEEE 802.1Q virtual LANs and 802.1p prioritization. Both cards support 256,000 MPLS Label Switched Paths.

The trunk side interfaces will enable the ST200 to directly connect to 10G bit/sec optical core networks, Laurel says.

ST200 10G bit/sec cards will be available in the third quarter. Laurel did not disclose pricing.
