MCI this week is teaming with Yahoo Broadcast Solutions to offer customers a hosted video-streaming service.
MCI's Global Streaming Video service allows users to set up live or archived video broadcasts for employee training, executive meetings or media events. MCI, which was formerly known as WorldCom, is expected to emerge from bankruptcy in the third quarter.
The carrier's new video service sends customers video content to Yahoo’s video server platform through a secure connection, MCI says.
Yahoo hosts, distributes and archives the video content for MCI’s customers.
Global Streaming Video customers can set up video-streaming sessions with up to 500 simultaneous users for a flat fee of $7,500 for three hours of content. That fee also includes archiving for 30 days.
MCI Conference Meeting Managers also work with users to set up their video-streaming sessions.
The video content is accessible to a select audience through a specific Web site. Audience members access the video streams by supplying a user ID and password.
MCI also offers audio and Web conferencing services.
