SBC this week acquired privately held network consulting company Callisma of Palo Alto in an effort to broaden its managed service portfolio for enterprise firms.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Callisma has 125 employees, all of whom will be retained by SBC, a spokesman for the carrier says. Ralph Troupe - founder, chairman and CEO of Callisma - will continue to lead Callisma’s operations and will report to Ray Wilkins, group president, SBC Marketing and Sales.

Callisma was founded in October 1999.

SBC recently stated plans to bolster its presence in enterprise companies as it gains approval to offer long distance services throughout its region.
