Jim FreyJim Frey, Research Director, Network Management, EMA

Jim has 22 years of experience in the computing industry developing, deploying, managing, and marketing software and hardware products, with the last 16 of those years spent in network management, straddling both enterprise and service provider sectors. At Enterprise Management Associates, Jim is responsible for the Network Management practice area.

Prior to joining EMA, Jim spent six years with NetScout Systems as Vice President of Marketing, where he was responsible for global programs including product marketing, solution marketing, field events, sales training, marketing communications, press & analyst relations, channel marketing, and competitive analysis. Jim also played a key role in planning and executing joint marketing projects with NetScout’s major alliance partners, including HP, Mercury, Riverbed, and OPNET. He also acted as communications director for NetScout’s acquisition and integration of Network General and the Sniffer line of performance management and troubleshooting products.

Throughout his years in the network management sector, Jim has been a regular speaker at industry events around the globe and has been published in several journals, proceedings, magazines, and textbooks.

Steve GuthrieSteve Guthrie, Senior Principal, Products, CA

Steven Guthrie has spent the past decade in the IP network and telephony management market as an active participant in the emergence of IP-based business services and IP service technologies as well as realtime IP communications such as voice and video over IP. In his role at CA, he is responsible for understanding how enterprises, government agencies and service providers use infrastructure and performance management solutions to improve the efficiency and cost of managing their networks, systems, databases and applications. With this insight, he communicates user experiences and industry best practices to help other organizations optimize their converged network investments and achieve reliable business services and high user satisfaction.

David HaywardDavid Hayward, Senior Principal, Products, CA

David Hayward began his 25-plus year career as editor for BYTE, McGraw-Hill Publishing’s groundbreaking computer magazine. Since then he has held senior marketing positions at premier start-up and prominent networking and systems hardware and software vendors in the enterprise and service provider IT markets. His systems experience ranges from personal computers to engineering workstations and large-scale transaction processing. His network experience spans from soft-switching for VoIP to enterprise LAN/WAN switching and the new generation carrier fixed-mobile convergence solutions. At CA he is responsible for understanding organizations’ network performance and overall IT service availability challenges and solutions from technology and operational perspectives.

Tom HayesTom Hayes, Senior Principal, Products, CA

Tom Hayes has accumulated more than 20 years experience working at the heart of the IT industry. He has substantial industry expertise in IT management technologies and solutions, including networks, systems and applications. Prior to joining CA, Tom held several senior marketing positions at Concord Communications, 3Com, Motorola and several start-up companies, where he was responsible for new product definition, product marketing and sales and marketing leadership.

Brian BakstranBrian Bakstran, Vice President, Products, CA

Brian Bakstran is vice president, WW product marketing at CA, responsible for the eHealth suite of solutions. Prior to this role, he ran the North America Field Marketing activities including; operations, branding/marketing campaigns, communications, events, tele-prospecting and business unit planning. Prior to joining CA, Brian was director, worldwide corporate marketing for Concord Communications, a global software company, where he lead marketing and telesales initiatives.
