Parenting Solutions

Price: Around $20 at Amazon.com, other locations
Coolness score: 6
Ease of use: 9
You are an expert at babying your network, now take a little time to network your baby. More than just a database of baby stats, Baby Matters lets you preserve and present all the vital data about junior -- allergies, developmental milestones, emergency contact numbers -- as well as less weighty information, such as mom’s pregnancy cravings and the date of baby’s first gurgle. The interface is easy enough for grandma to navigate, and has lots of cutesy effects and illustrations that will hold baby’s attention when he gets old enough to play with the keyboard. Nice extras: Printable photo templates for the baby images on your hard drive, and a printable “Just for You” certificate that records vital stats and sentimental thoughts, information that your child will appreciate when he or she gets older. Technical requirements: Windows 95, 98, or NT; 32M bytes of RAM

The WD-40 can radio
WD-40

Price: $13
Coolness score: 7
Ease of use: 10 (it's a radio!)
OK, so it's not the most high-tech device in the world, but it's still a pretty cool and inexpensive "gadget." The AM/FM radio includes a retractable antenna. Put it in the garage and your guests will have a hard time figuring out where the radio noise is coming from. The only downside? No WD-40 actually inside the radio.
