Linksys Wireless-B Media Adapter More info

Linksys Wireless-B Media Adapter

Linksys

Price: $166.00
Rating: 4
Ease of use: Power users only

Review:
The Linksys Wireless-B Media Adapter brings more options to your home entertainment center without invasive wiring. The Media Adapter creates a wireless link between your computer and your entertainment center that allows for the playing of audio and video files previously limited to being accessed by your computer only.

The interaction between the home entertainment center and your computer can be completely controlled by an easy to use remote control and user interface on your TV screen. Once the software application and Media Adapter have been configured you have complete access to JPG, GIF, TIF, and BMP images, as well as any audio that you wish to play through your entertainment center, simultaneously I might add.

The wireless connection is 802.11b and is limited by the limitation of that technology, but in most homes that currently use 802.11b without difficulty it will be a great addition to your entertainment center. The device did pose a few installation problems, but with some time it did install properly and was easy to use post-configuration. Other limitations include the need for your PC to be on to access the files and a solid 802.11b connection.
