Instant forehead thermometer

Oregon Scientific

Price: $59.95
Rating: 3
Ease of use: So Easy, Grandma can use

Review:
It's 3 a.m. and you wake up to a screaming toddler. The baby feels warm, so you quickly run to the bathroom cabinet for the thermometer. You can't use the oral thermometer in the event the child might bite down on it, which would leave you with worse problems than just a fever. In years past, the next best thing was a rectal thermometer. But as some parents can attest to, that can be a messy endeavor. How about placing the thermometer under the child's arm? That can be difficult with a squirming baby.

Then came the ear thermometer, which revolutionized the market. The only setback with this device is that often it screamed 'error' across its display screen if the thermometer was not placed correctly within the ear.

Now comes this forehead thermometer, which has made taking anyone's temperature a 3-second task. It basically involves the push of a button, following by dragging the sensor from the center of the forehead across to the temple.

The 16-page manual emphasized that this thermometer is 'non-invasive.' It even worked when my 9-year-old daughter placed a heating pad on her forehead and the thermometer showed that she had a temperature of 101.3 degrees.

The cost of the unit is a bit pricier than the ear thermometer's cost of $29.95. But for those frantic nights when you wished there could be a thermometer that takes your temperature in an instant, this might not be a bad buy.
