Review:
Gateway is not known for its digital cameras, but the PC vendor has burst onto the scene with this very cool little wonder.
First is its size. It's sleek and small, and weighs a mere 6 oz. If you want a quality camera you can easily stash in a jacket or pants pocket, this is for you. Unlike some of the newer digital cameras these days, the DC-T50 feels sturdy and well-built, not cheap and plastic. Like other decent consumer cameras, you can set the camera to automatic and let it do all the work, or play Ansel Adams and futz around with shutter speeds yourself.
The viewscreen is a decent size, and when taking pictures you can either use the viewscreen or the viewfinder. The camera menu is intuitive to those who have used digital cameras before, or easily navigatable to newbies who read a bit of the manual.
Also well done is the battery life. The camera comes with a lithium ion battery, which can be recharged with the included AC adapter. Battery life holds up well through a long day of sightseeing, and can be fully replenished by plugging it back into the wall for a few hours. It's much better than toting around 4 AA batteries wherever you go.
The picture quality is excellent, as are the prints made from a standard ink jet printer. Although 5 megapixels is probably more than the average consumer needs, it's nice to have them at your disposal if you're so inclined. If you're looking for a small, affordable digicam that takes great pictures, the DC-T50 is for you.
