Gateway DC-T20 2.0 MP Digital Camera
GatewayPrice: $99.99
Rating: 3
Ease of use: Mainstream customers
Review:
Everyone loves miniature toys, and digital cameras are no exception. Tossing this little camera in your shoulder bag or pocket for those can't-miss moments is irresistable, and its ease of use almost makes up for its mediocre image quality.
This 2.0 megapixel digital camera has three image size modes: 640x480, 1280x960, and 1600x1200. Its fixed-focus lens can be rotated for landscape (far-focusing) or macro (close-focusing) shots.
Stock up on AA batteries; the camera doesn't come with rechargeables, and you'll go through a lot if you plan on taking lots of pictures. Capturing the images onto your hard drive is extremely simple -- a USB connection is all you need. Button functionality is limited, and the internal dialog menus may be confusing without reading the manual. Colors seem a bit orange, and there is a lack of control of the flash -- it either fires automatically, with red-eye reduction, always, or not at all. Sometimes it can be too strong, and the slow shutter synch speed may let in too much ambient light.
For photo-philes interested in high-resolution printouts and stunning color quality, this may not be the product for you -- but if you want the convenience of grabbing everyday shots in a nice format for e-mail or Web use, snag this little Gateway -- you won't even notice you have it on you until you need it.
