Review:
Now that Bluetooth phones are becoming more popular, there are many more choices for wireless accessories. Among the most useful is the wireless headset. Like an ordinary hands-free headset, this gadget lets you talk on you cell phone without holding the phone up to your ear. But since this is a Bluetooth device, there are no wires to get tangled in the seat belt of your car.
The Plantronics M3000 is ready for any Bluetooth phone, you can answer calls without ever taking your phone out of your pocket or bag, actually your phone can be up to 30 feet away. You can even dial calls if your phone supports voice dialing. Sound quality on the M300 was surprisingly good, even while driving down the highway. There are volume buttons on the top of the headset and a noise canceling microphone. The recipient of my test phone call thought that the sound was a bit 'tinny,' but that the noise cancellation was doing a good job of removing traffic noise.
The comfort factor is always a concern with headsets, and right out of the box I had serious concerns about the M3000. It has no padding or protection where the speaker meets the ear, and the loop that goes around your ear was not very flexible, making a challenge out of just putting it on. Indeed, after talking for about 10 minutes, the hard plastic of the ear piece started to bother me, eventually becoming unbearable. I tried for some time to reposition the headset for better comfort, even using the included larger earloop, to no avail.
Wireless headsets are really great, unless you can't wear it for more than 10 minutes.
