Freecom FHD-1 external hard drive

Freecom

Price: $219.00
Rating: 2
Ease of use: Mainstream customers

Review:
Run out of drive bays in your PC chassis but need more disk storage? The Freecom FHD-1 external hard drive could be a solution to your storage needs. The version of the FHD-1 that we tested has 120G bytes of storage and a 7200 RPM drive all tucked in a sleek case. We particularly liked the USB 2.0 or FireWire connection options, and the fact that Freecom provides every possible cable you may need to get the device hooked to your machine (Note: it will work with USB 1.1, but the transfer rates will be slower). We had our test unit hooked to FireWire and transferred about 2.2G bytes of files in a very short amount of time.

The drive can be used two ways: Like the Windows Briefcase feature where files are synchronized between the host PC and the drive or as a standard hard drive. Once the device is set up and the files initially transferred, future synchronization is done by the push of a button (the only button) on the front of the unit. Either way, transfer speeds were excellent. You can use it for transporting files between work at home, data backup or as an extra hard drive.
