Kanguru Micro Drive 2.0

USB Flash storage is nothing new, we saw these a few years ago. So why point out this as a good gift?

A couple of things -- the drives now have USB 2.0 compatibility, so transfering your large files (such as MP3s, videos or large presentations) takes a lot less time.

Secondly, the prices on storage have come down significantly. You can now get 128M bytes of storage for $60. Pretty impressive. Kanguru offers USB devices in ranges from 32M bytes all the way up to 2G bytes (at $999.95, still a bit out of our price range). Right now our favorite level is 256M bytes for under $100. Anything over that, then we start to get nervous if we feel like we're going to lose such a small device.

The Kanguru Micro Drive comes with a lanyard so you can hang this around your neck (unlike others, which can be latched onto a key chain). The device also comes with compression and encryption features that can help secure your data.

Overall, we love this year's version, and feel that these devices will replace (if they haven't already) the floppy disk drive.
