All Star Baseball 2004

Acclaim Entertainment

Price: $39.99
Coolness score: Really fun game, has some lasting power

Review:
The only thing that's wrong with this game is that it features Derek Jeter on the cover. Being a fan of the Boston Red Sox, this immediately gave me reason not to like this game.

However, I put my feelings aside and played it anyway. It turned out to be a good decision. The game provides all the options you would expect from a baseball simulation, the graphics are great and controls are easy to use. Aside from the basic exhibition and season modes, All-Star Baseball allows armchair general managers the option to make like Theo Epstein in franchise mode. You can also create and play the ultimate all-star game with baseball greats from the past, including the Negro leagues.

Overall this one will please both the hardcore and casual baseball fan. Just one suggestion for next year, All-Star Baseball 2005 featuring Nomar Garciaparra.
