Search tips
DSL Search uses search methods similar to those found on AltaVista and Infoseek. Specifically:
- To find a phrase, put it in quotation marks:
- "case studies"
- To require that results have a specific word or phrase, use a plus sign:
- +BellAtlantic +ADSL
- To require that results exclude a specific word or phrase, use a minus sign:
- +BellAtlantic -ADSL
- A wildcard asterisk is allowed at the end of a word:
-
stud*study and studies
- When in doubt, type words in lower case - the search engine will find results in both upper and lower case.
Database details
What exactly we set our spider loose on depends on the nature of the site. For example, we have indexed all the contents of the Paradyne Web site, because Paradyne focuses on DSL equipment. But we've only indexed the portion of Cisco's site that deals explicitly with DSL equipment. You can see if a specific site is in our index by typing
url:fragment
where "fragment" is part of a site's URL, in the query box (for example, url:paradyne). If we've indexed the site, you'll get back hits. If not, or if you want to let us know about a new resource, please use the form below to submit a URL:
