Microsoft yesterday announced a bundle of software, hardware and services to make it easier for small and medium sized businesses to set up Web-hosted e-commerce applications.
The Complete Commerce package, as the bundle is called, enables businesses to work with Web hosting providers to set up applications on Microsoft's Windows NT Server platform, the company said.
The package is geared toward sellers of "hard goods" that want to set up e-commerce sites but may not want to manage the underlying information systems, Microsoft said in a statement.
The 10 providers currently offering the Complete Commerce package include American Information Systems, Concentric Network, Data Return, Digex, GTE Internetworking, Icon CMT, MCI WorldCom Advanced Networks, Northwest Nexus, USinternetworking and USWeb/CKS, according to Microsoft.
The Complete Commerce package includes consulting, Web development, hosting services and order process and delivery, Microsoft said.
Compaq will supply hardware for the package, including its ProLiant server, Microsoft said.
