Bay's 100M hub pricing hits bottom

Not to be outdone by 3Com Corp., Bay Networks, Inc. this month will extend its line of 100Base-TX Fast Ethernet hubsand drive per port pricing down to $75.

The new hubs included in the BayStack 200 Series are Models 202, 203, 204 and 205. The 202 features 12 managed RJ-45 ports at a cost of $1,699, or $142 per port.

The 203 sports 12 managed RJ-45 ports and one 100Base-FX port. It costs $2,099, or $162 per port.

The 204 features 24 unmanaged RJ-45 ports for $1,799, or $75 per port. The 205 has 12 unmanaged RJ-45 ports for $1,099, or $92 per port.

Currently, Bay also offers the BayStack 201, a 24-port unmanaged hub, which costs $125 per port.

Web-based network management is available free of charge with the new BayStack 200 hubs. This allows users to locally or remotely configure the hubs without using Bay's Optivity network management software.

This is the first time Bay has provided Web-based management for its shared-media products.
