Tivoli Systems, Inc. last week unveiled a slew of software products designed to help users better manage IBM data centers.
The products all run on IBM OS/390-based mainframes and address such tasks as job scheduling, storage, security, automation, performance and software distribution. In addition, they feature a Web-based graphical user interface and tighter integration with Tivoli's client/server management tools and third-party applications.
Tivoli currently offers TME 10 NetView for OS/390, which allows users to manage mainframe and distributed system environments from a single Tivoli console. It also provides tools for performance reporting, operations planning and control and graphical network monitoring for the OS/390 environment.
But the eight new products Tivoli rolled out last week are designed to enhance those offerings and prod users off of legacy IBM and non-IBM mainframe management wares.
They include:
TME 10 Performance Reporter for OS/390, Accounting Option, which allows users to calculate the cost of IT resource utilization for chargeback to customers
TME 10 Performance Reporter for OS/390, Version 1.3, which is a repository of IT utilization statistics for performance reporting, capacity management, service level management and accounting. Version 1.3 includes performance information on IBM's MQSeries middleware, Application Response Measurement transaction monitor and Lotus Domino data
TME 10 Operations Planning and Control, Version 2.1, which allows users to centrally administer workload management across distributed and mainframe systems, including Digital Equipment Corp. Open/VMS and Pyramid Technology, Inc. systems
TME 10 Information/Management, Version 1.1, which features an Open Database Connectivity-compliant repositiory of hardware and software configuration information
TME 10 Module for MQSeries, which automates deployment, monitoring and administration of message-based application
TME 10 NetView Performance Monitor, Version 2.4, which collects network statistics and displays them on a graphical user interface
OS/390 Security Server, Version 2 Release 4, which allows OS/390 systems to be securely connected to the Internet by supporting firewalls and Digital Certificates
DFSMS Optimizer version 1 release 2 and DFSMS Removable Media Manager, which allows users to adjust storage management parameters from Java-based Web browsers, and support a new API for easier integration with third-party job schedulers
Tivoli's OS/390 management products are priced according to system configuration. They are available now.
