Las Vegas - Concentric Network Corp. announced its latest Web hosting service today at Networld+Interop here.
ConcentricHost Managed Server Services is the Concentric's first dedicated Web hosting service that offers users 24 x 7 management, monitoring and maintenance.
The service also comes with a 99.7% server availability guarantee, which equates to 4.3 minutes per day worth of downtime. If Concentric does not meet its service level agreement (SLA) it will credit its customers 25% of their monthly Managed Server Services fee.
Concentric monitors each dedicated server by sending a ping to the device every 5 minutes, said Connie DeWitt, director of applications hosting services at Concentric. If there is no response from a server, Concentric notifies its customer automatically by sending an e-mail, she said.
An SLA that cuts an ISP over 2 hours worth of down-time slack per month may not seem that great, customers should use SLAs as a starting point for negotiating a contract with an ISP or carrier. And some are not offering any SLA for their Web hosting services.
The service also includes built in performance monitoring and reporting services through Keynote Systems, Inc.'s Performance Measurement Service. All of Concentric's Managed Server Services customers can log onto Keynote's Web site using their assigned user name and password to compare their Web site's performance to 40 other Web sites that Keynote monitors regularly.
Managed Server Services also includes 4 standard hardware and software configurations that include:
Users also have the choice of connecting their Web server to Concentric's LAN at 500K bit/sec to 100M bit/sec.
The service is available now for $1,975 to $6,400 per month depending on hardware configuration and LAN bandwidth options. Concentric: (800) 493-6236.
