Copper Mountain, Inc., maker of digital subscriber line (DSL) equipment, is teaming with other vendors to make certain its equipment interoperates with their gear.
Copper Mountain makes a DSL concentrator called CopperEdge 200 that sits inside a service provider's switching office. Interoperability tests will be run with DSL modems that sit at the other end of the DSL wire and are made by other vendors.
If more than one vendor's gear interoperates with CopperEdge 200, it gives DSL customers more options when buying modems for their sites.
The vendors participating in the tests include: ADC Kentrox, Cayman Systems, Escalate Networks, Fastcomm Communications Corp., Flowpoint Corp., Freegate Corp., Netopia, Inc., Ramp Networks and Whistle Communications Corp.
