Research Triangle Park, N.C. - Donald Haile, vice president of development of IBM's Networking Hardware Division, resigned today. Sources said Haile will be taking a job as executive vice president, enterprise solutions with Boston-based Fidelity Investments, the mammoth mutual funds company.

IBM named as replacement Michel Mayer, who formerly was general manager of NHD's development facility in La Gaude, France.

Haile was a 34 year IBM employee, and during his eight month tenure as vice president of development at NHD, oversaw the division's recent reorganization and revised product strategy.

Company sources said the resignation was no suprise and a smooth transition is expected. Haile had previously been the IBM executive assigned to work with the Fidelity account.

Mayer, said these same sources, has been working closely with Haile's management team over the past six months and will be able to pursue the reorganization strategy.
