MCI today announced a partnership with Cisco Systems, Inc., IBM and MCI Systemhouse to deliver managed SNA over frame relay services.
The alliance, called networkMCI Enterprise Blue, buttresses MCI's existing SNA service by offering a variety of management and consulting services, including:
- VPN Solutions Suite - MCI installs and manages Cisco routers and, optionally, channel interface processors (CIP). Users also can choose to have their SNA sessions managed with VPN+, including user-account administration, service-level monitoring and troubleshooting.
- Application Enablement Suite - Consulting and software aimed at migrating SNA applications to frame relay or to IP-based applications, using IBM tools such as MQSeries, DB2 and Lotus Notes.
Pricing starts at $500 per month per port. VPN service will range from $700 to $3,000, with the more expensive figure reflecting the use of CIPs. The VPN+ option will cost an additional $15 to $20 per user per month.
