AOL to buy Netscape for $4.2 billion

BULLETIN: America Online Inc. will buy Netscape Communications Corp. in an all-stock transaction worth US$4.2 billion, the companies announced this morning. Sun Microsystems Inc. will team with AOL to develop Internet devices using Sun's Java programming language.

Representatives from AOL, Netscape and Sun will be holding a press conference at noon EST.
