Lotus and Hewlett-Packard yesterday made a push to Lotus Domino with an e-mail migration offering delivered by the companies and their channel partners.
Lotus and HP have optimized a preconfigured HP NetServer on Lotus Domino aimed at what Lotus said is a market of 22 million users who are looking at upgrading their messaging systems.
The system is based on HP's midrange family of Microsoft Windows NT servers, the HP NetServer L series, and uses Lotus Domino for the mail server, according to Peter Fay, solutions impact manager at Lotus. The offering includes migration tools from Lotus independent software vendors, including InterNoded's HyperTrac, which is designed to help automate the administration of Notes and Domino, and Binary Tree's MailPort, a migration utility for cc:mail, Microsoft Mail and Microsoft Exchange customers, Lotus said.
"We've done all the behind-the-scenes work to bring these all together," Fay said.
The system will be available in the U.S. in the first quarter through Lotus and HP business partners, Lotus said. Pricing varies, but would be around $37,000 for a 500-user configuration for a current cc:mail user moving to Domino, the company said.
