New York - GTE Internetworking today announced an international managed firewall service and a separate service for monitoring attempted network break-ins.
The Cambridge Mass.-based ISP announced that its Site Patrol managed firewall service is now available internationally. GTE Internetworking will has the ability to manage and monitor its Site Patrol customer's firewall 24 hours a day, 7 days a week in 20 countries.
The SITA Group, an international telecommunications service provider, will deploy and set-up the firewalls at these international locations. SITA is a division of Equant, a global telecommunications company and GTE Internetworking's global service partner.
GTE Internetworking has approval to export Trusted Information Systems, Inc.'s Gauntlet firewall to 37 countries, but can only import these firewalls in 20 countries today. The ISP is pursuing approval in the remaining 17 countries.
The service is available for $3,750 per site per month, although the company is offering a $400 monthly discount for signing up before Jan. 1. Domestically, Site Patrol is available for a monthly rate of $2,500 per site.
GTE Internetworking also announced a new security service based on Internet Security Systems, Inc.'s network security assessment and monitoring software. The service will be an extension of its Site Patrol offering, but is not exclusive to Site Patrol customers.
GTE Internetworking will deploy ISS' software that will monitor perimeter vulnerability and intrusion detection for Web servers and applications that sit outside of the customer's firewall. Pricing for this service will not be available until the service rolls out in late February. 1998.
