Novell yesterday announced that it has purchased Ukiah Software. Ukiah develops network management software that Novell hopes to incorporate into a new network product by year-end.
Ukiah, a privately held company based in Campbell, Calif., produces software that controls the pipeline that routes data information within business networks and over the Internet. That process enables the allocation of network bandwidth within a company.
A company can use the software to ensure that critical operations, such as an online financial service, are given enough bandwidth, says Novell Spokesman Jonathan Cohen.
Novell plans to integrate the product with its directory services software. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.
