Compaq has rolled out three storage server bundles aimed at making it easier for midsize to large enterprise users to design and install Fibre Channel storage-area networks.

The storage bundles include Compaq's ProLiant servers in workgroup, departmental or enterprise network packages. Composed of Compaq StorageWorks RAID Array 4000 or 8000 disk subsystems, clustered ProLiant servers and clustering software, the bundles are coupled with installation and maintenance services. They also carry a 90-day money-back guarantee.

The three bundles are:

  • A Workgroup Bundle for 150 users.

  • A Departmental Bundle for 400 users.

  • An Enterprise Business Critical Bundle for 1,000 users.

The Workgroup Bundle consists of the StorageWorks RAID Array 4000 with 50G bytes of hot-pluggable storage, two dual-processor ProLiant 1850R servers and one year of onsite support. The bundle runs Windows NT or NetWare. The package is priced at $50,000.

The Departmental Bundle includes the StorageWorks RAID Array 4000 subsystem with 100G bytes of hot-pluggable storage, two dual-processor ProLiant 6400R servers and one year of support. It also runs Windows NT or NetWare. The package costs about $100,000.

The Enterprise Business Critical Bundle includes the StorageWorks RAID Array 8000 system with 200G bytes of hot-pluggable storage, two dual-processor ProLiant 6400R rack-mount servers and one year of support. It costs about $220,000.
