Veritas has announced the availability of storage software for Unix networks.
Dubbed VERITAS NetBackup BusinesServer, the software provides backup and recovery for midsize businesses that may have relied on public domain back-up utilities in the past.

NetBackup BusinesServer features installation and configuration wizards and allows network managers to back up data to tape libraries, tape drives and other media. It offers control from a single, easy-to-navigate graphical user interface, and features policy-driven operation and detailed reporting. The product supports up to two tape drives per back-up server or a maximum of one robotic tape library with up to two drives and up to 22 slots.
Each license for BusinesServer protects up to four additional servers, which can be centrally managed along with other Veritas NetBackup servers via the VERITAS Global Data Manager. Database agents are available for Oracle, Informix, Sybase and Microsoft SQL Server software.
The product runs on Solaris, HP-UX and Windows NT platforms and supports a wide range of client system platforms, including most UNIX flavors, NT, Windows 98, Windows 95, Novell NetWare and Macintosh.
NetBackup BusinesServer will be available this month for $2,000 for NT and $4,000 for UNIX.
