Cisco last week rolled out the fruits of last fall's acquisition of Aironet Wireless Communications with Cisco-branded 11M bit/sec wireless LAN products.

The Cisco Aironet 340 Series of products are targeted at small and midsize businesses and corporate enterprises. They comply with the IEEE 802.11b wireless LAN standards for in-building and building-to-building wireless connectivity, Cisco says.

The Aironet 340 products include access points, a PC Card, PCI and ISA client adapters, Ethernet clients, and line-of-sight outdoor bridges. Client driver support includes Windows 95, 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and Novell NetWare.

The Aironet 340 Series access points can serve as the center point of a stand-alone wireless network or as the connection point between wireless and wired 10/100 Ethernet networks. The Aironet wireless bridge products provide point-to-point or point-to-multipoint connections between buildings up to 25 miles away, Cisco says.

The client and multiclient adapters are for Ethernet-equipped devices without an expansion bus.

The Cisco Aironet 340 Series wireless LAN products will be available beginning March 27. The access point costs $1,299, while the PC Card costs $249.

The ISA and PCI adapters cost $349 apiece. The wireless bridge is priced at $1,949.
