Cybex this week rolled out a keyboard-video-mouse (KVM) switch that saves space for growing businesses by consolidating keyboards, video monitors and mice.
SwitchViewOSD is an eight-port switch that lets network managers access up to eight servers or workstations from a single console. KVM switches consolidate the operations of multiple machines to a single keyboard, video and mouse and are able to quickly switch between servers.
The switch uses color-coded connectors, an on-screen display and tangle-proof cabling to identify individual servers. Two levels of security in the SwitchViewOSD let network managers establish access privileges and assign viewing or viewing/editing rights to each user for every attached server.
Up to four user profiles and one administrator profile can be kept for access to the system. Users can switch between servers using either keyboard commands or pop-down menus on the on-screen display.
A hot-pluggable feature lets servers be added to or removed from the network without powering down the switch or disrupting operations.
SwitchViewOSD is $550.
