U.K. mobile phone network operator, Virgin Mobile Telecoms Ltd., announced that it would launch a mobile phone with an integrated MP3 player in the third quarter.

As part of a multimillion-dollar agreement with South Korea's Samsung Electronics Company Ltd., Virgin Mobile will retail the co-branded Samsung SGH M100 for approximately $477, Virgin said. The mobile phone and service will only be available to users in the U.K.

The MP3 player, which comes with 32M bytes of memory, will allow users to download 34 minutes of music from the Internet or a CD via a PC onto the mobile phone, Virgin said. To download a 3-minute track would take 3 minutes, Virgin said.

The phone also has a feature that automatically pauses playing music upon receiving an incoming call and resumes the music after the caller has hung up, Virgin said.

Virgin Mobile, which was launched in November of last year, said the integrated MP3 mobile phone will be the first offered on the mass market.

Virgin Mobile Telecoms Ltd. can be contacted in the U.K. at 44-845-600-0600, or www.virgin.com/mobile/.

Samsung Electronics, in Seoul, can be contacted at +82-2-727-3355, or www.samsungelectronics.com/.
