Sprint Wednesday introduced Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business, which offers access to applications, corporate e-mail, intranets and corporate directories directly on the browser of Internet-ready Sprint PCS phones.
Beginning in September, the new business suite will provide speeds comparable to a 56.6K bit/sec land-line connection, the Westwood, Kan. company said in a statement. New bandwidth optimization technology on the Sprint PCS Network and Sprint PCS Dialer 2.0 software assists with the wireless data transmission speed.

To develop its new business offering, Sprint worked with Lotus, Wireless Knowledge LLC (which is a joint venture of Microsoft and Qualcomm), Siebel Systems, Sabre Holdings and PeopleSoft.
Later this year, Sprint PCS Wireless Web for Business will offer a custom link on the Sprint PCS Wireless Web Browser that provides employees with a single location to access e-mail, sales tools, travel services, corporate directories as well as other content and applications.
In other Sprint news, the company announced that it would use Sierra Wireless' Aircard 510 as its Sprint PCS Wireless modem. The Code Division Multiple Access card will connect a user's laptop to the Internet with the wireless modem. The card uses Qualcomm's sixth-generation MSM300 Mobile Station Modem chipset and system software. The card fits in a standard type II slot and has an internally stored antenna, the company said.
