Digital River to handle Novell e-commerce site

E-commerce site developer and host Digital River plans to announce an agreement with Novell on Wednesday to support Novell's shopNovell e-commerce Web site.

Under terms of the deal, Provo, Utah-based Novell will outsource to Digital River the management of its shopNovell e-commerce portal where consumers, resellers, and computer manufacturers can gain access to Novell products and services.

Novell officials said the move to outsource shopNovell to Minneapolis, Minn.-based Digital River will bring cost savings as well as a means to grow the shopNovell portal offering.

The outsourcing arrangement comes as Novell plans next quarter to expand the reach of its shopNovell portal to include localized sites in Canada, Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The portal services are also available in the United States, Latin America, and Asia.
