Linux clustering vendor SteelEye Technology last week announced software that keeps print servers running in any situation, such as order fulfillment or logistics, where printing capability is mission-critical.

The LifeKeeper software works on clustered Linux, Solaris and Windows NT platforms and monitors the status of print spoolers and daemons, as well as servers, networks and data, to ensure that printers remain up and available for users.

The software contains failover mechanisms that can detect a possible outage and recover from hardware or application faults.

LifeKeeper includes a browser-based interface for installation, configuration and management and operates on Red Hat and Caldera Linux networks.
