The recent roller-coaster ride of Manchester, N.H., DSL provider Vitts Networks took another downturn after the company this week filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

In late January, Vitts, which provides DSL and enterprise networking services to about 20,000 customers in New England, began laying off employees and announced it would be shutting down its operations by the end of February. One week later, the company said it had found enough funding to allow it to continue operating into the near future and that the company would seek further funding to allow it to stay in business.

Vitts officials say that filing for Chapter 11 will allow the company to continue providing service as it seeks further funding or a buyer.
