Storage / Nishan Systems extends IP storage reach
Storage start-up Nishan Systems announced this week that its IP storage products will be distributed by IBM Global Services and managed by Tivoli's network and storage management software, NetView and SANergy. Nishan makes native IP storage switches and software management products. IBM Global services will offer consulting, design and implementation services for Nishan products. Nishan's IPS 3000 Series IP Storage Switch lets storage administrators connect Fibre Channel hosts and storage devices to a local Gigabit Ethernet network for backup, remote mirroring or data replication. The IPS 2000 lets storage administrators connect SCSI-based servers or storage devices to a Gigabit Ethernet network and transport data between them using native SCSI protocols. With the IPS 1000 Series IP Storage Gateway, storage administrators can interconnect storage area networks over IP-based shared metropolitan or wide-area networks. Nishan's SANvergence management tools let storage administrators monitor the IP Storage Fabric as well as the functions of the Nishan storage devices. It is Web-based and lets storage administrators partition both local and remote storage devices. Developed in Java, Nishan's management tools support both Unix and Windows operating systems. Tivoli also announced that Nishan's products can be managed from within Tivoli NetView, the company's network device manager, and from SANergy, its storage management system. Nishan is working with Computer Associates to integrate its products into CA Unicenter TNG and has already announced agreements with HP and BMC for HP OpenView and BMC Patrol. Related Links
