Computer Associates this week announced a new service to help IT managers plan for data recovery.

Called Crisis Life Cycle Management, the service uses products from CA's Unicenter TNG, eTrust, BrightStor, Advantage and CleverPath product lines. It also incorporates technology that lets IT managers view various information in one place. CleverPath Aion Business Rules Expert adapts the disaster management to the specific needs of any emergency.

The service lets customers assess risks to their operations, implement proper processes and technology to deal with emergencies, avoid crises, respond to emergencies and recover normal operations.

Business continuity software and services have seen increased awareness among businesses since the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.

According to a study from the Gartner Group and the Society for Information Management, few businesses could sustain disasters either natural or man-made.

The study shows that only 28% of companies have business continuity plans that deal with physical attacks, and that only 36% would be able to recover the loss of their physical assets and workspace.

Pricing depends on the combination of services and products a customer chooses. Crisis Life Cycle Management is available now.
