Entercept has announced an updated version of its host-based server intrusion-prevention software, Entercept 4.0, which adds support for the HP-UX and Solaris 9 operating systems. Entercept also has redesigned its software to follow a three-tier, rather than a two-tier, management architecture so that up to 5,000 servers running Entercept can be managed from one console, as opposed to 1,000 servers previously.

NetIQ last week announced Version 2.0 of its VigilEnt Password Manager. The software automates password management and provides self-service password reset and creation capabilities to users. NetIQ acquired the product when it bought PentaSafe last October.
Password Manager 2.0 is one product in the VigilEnt Administration and Identity Management suite that NetIQ says will further the company's security management offerings. New features include asset prioritization for password changes, user group delegation, secure permissions for access, more support for Windows accounts and easier installation. Password Manager 2.0 is installed on a dedicated server and user agents that reside on managed devices to collect data and take automated actions.
Pricing for VigilEnt Password Manager is based on a per platform, per user basis, starting at $15 per user. www.netiq.com
