RSA Security and Thor Technologies Monday announced a partnership agreement under which the two will work closely to integrate their products.
Jason Lewis, director of product management at RSA, said the goal is to integrate RSA's ClearTrust authentication and access management software with Thor's Xellerate provisioning software by the third quarter of this year. Under the agreement, RSA will be allowed to ship RSA ClearTrust with some of Thor's basic provisioning capabilities, such as self-service, self-registration, resetting passwords and profile updates, Lewis said.
"Customers won't have to pay extra when they buy ClearTrust to have this," Lewis said. Under the technology integration arrangements, RSA and Thor will strive to provide a common interface for their products so that from the customer's standpoint, they will look similar when used together. The Thor and RSA partnership also calls for joint selling and marketing activities.
RSA works closely with other provisioning vendors - such as BMC, Waveset, Business Layers, Courion and Access360 - to ensure their provisioning products are compatible with RSA ClearTrust. ClearTrust provides access management via an array of means, including passwords, SecurID tokens, and some biometrics. Lewis said the close partnership undertaken with Thor would not affect the work RSA does with other provisioning software vendors.
