CommVault Systems this week is launching a management tool and enhancements to two software packages to help users archive and preserve their storage data. The products are QiNetix DataArchiver, QiNetix Quick Recovery 5.0 and QiNetix DataMigrator 5.0.
DataArchiver is a software module for the company’s QiNetix suite of data protection products. It archives Microsoft Exchange e-mail and allows users to perform cross-mailbox full-content searches and capture and monitor all inbound and outbound e-mail.
The software lets users retain e-mail for specified periods of time and access the e-mail when necessary. Users can search the e-mail archive for evidence discovery or compliance with government requests.
The company also enhanced its quick data recovery software by adding support for EMC’s SnapView 2.0 and Microsoft’s Virtual Shadow Service (VSS). These products let users create point-in-time recovery volumes on any magnetic disk, allowing full recovery of applications in minutes, instead of hours. Version 5 of Quick Recovery also supports Solaris, and Oracle servers running on Solaris. Further, incremental updates are now faster. QiNetix Quick Recovery starts at $2,500 per host being recovered.
CommVault also enhanced its DataMigrator software, which moves files to less costly storage. Version 5.0 supports Solaris and Microsoft Exchange. In Exchange, the product also supports Outlook Web Access and migration of .PST files. Pricing starts at about $50 per monitored mailbox.
