Linux Networx unveils clustered storage

Linux Networx Thursday announced a clustered file system that virtualizes the storage in the pool and manages it.

Called Xilo, the storage system can pool the capacity from separate storage devices into a single repository of information. All storage devices can be managed from a single interface.

Xilo uses the Lustre file system developed by Cluster File Systems. In a Lustre-configured storage network, a metadata server sits in front of a variety of storage servers. This metadata server keeps track of the location of data and organizes all the I/O between attached servers and storage.

Pricing for the cluster was not announced, but it can vary by individual configuration.
