Infoblox, a leading provider of network appliances for several key IPs, Monday is shipping a new version of its appliance for RADIUS, which is used for remote user authentication, authorization and accounting.
The RADIUS appliance now includes features geared towards enterprises rolling out large-scale wireless LANs. Infoblox also sells network appliances that handle DNS, DHCP and LDAP database queries.
The new features in RADIUSone Version 1.2 are:
* Multi-Store, which provides a single interface for multiple data stores and support for redundant data stores.
* Multi-Auth, which handles multiple authentication types within a single realm and works with multiple data stores across realms.
Infoblox officials say these features will help enterprises rolling out WLANs by controlling user access to the network based on both who the user is and where the user is located.
"Enterprises want class-based and location-based policies that are very fine-grained," says Rick Kagan, vice president of marketing at Infoblox. "We’re providing comprehensive security with a simple, drop-in box with a point-and-click [GUI]."
RADIUSone Version 1.2 retails for $12,000.
In a related announcement, Infoblox said it has teamed with Aruba Wireless Networks to offer a turnkey solution that makes it easier for enterprises to build a secure WLAN. The turnkey solution includes Infoblox’s RADIUSone appliance and Aruba’s enterprise WLAN systems.
Infoblox executives said they will make another announcement late in 2005 regarding integrating the RADIUSone appliance into an enterprise’s network identity infrastructure.
The new version of RADIUSone comes just five months after Infoblox hired Robert Thomas, former CEO of NetScreen, onboard as its new CEO. Infoblox says it has shipped more than 2,000 appliances to 400 corporate customers.
