BMC Software  has added a new component to its Patrol product that is designed to help IT managers resolve problems faster, increase system availability, and maximize productivity.

Patrol Analytics continuously analyzes and correlates real-time system metrics from a wide variety of enterprise resources to determine typical behavioral patterns and then automatically determines the appropriate associated alerting thresholds.

Patrol Analytics, based on technology licensed from Netuitive Inc., allows organizations to set alerting thresholds dynamically so that IT is warned only when business services are truly impacted. Problems can be reported and personnel notified before problems result in service degradation or outages.

The new product is a part of BMC's Business Service Management (BSM) strategy, which enables customers to manage IT processes from a business perspective, said Sean Declaux, director of product management and infrastructure management for BMC.

"Dynamic thresholding through behavioral analytics with Patrol Analytics is a key enabling technology that is keeping our solutions comprehensive while simplifying operations for our customers," said Declaux.

Patrol Analytics also helps eliminate false alerts, allowing for faster problem diagnosis and repair for actual service issues.

Pricing for Patrol Analytics starts at $295 for a database server, with prices varying depending on the server. It is available now.
